How to Sign Up and Verify a Yahoo Site Explorer Account
What is Yahoo Site Explorer?
Yahoo Site Explorer allows you to submit feeds or sitemaps for your site, check your pages that are indexed, check internal and external links plus more. You will need a Yahoo account before accessing the Yahoo Site Explorer. If you do not have one, create a Yahoo account.
Adding Your Site
Sign in to the Yahoo Site Explorer to begin.
Add the URL of your site then select “Add My Site” Example URL: http://www.mysite.com You have now added your site.
Authenticate Your Site
Now that you have added your site to the Yahoo Site Explorer, it is now time to authenticate so Yahoo knows you are the legitimate owner or webmaster for this site.
Select the yellow circle under the Status column. This will bring you to the authentication page. You have two options for authenticating your site.
- Uploading a verification (HTML) file
- Adding a Meta tag to your home page
Uploading a Verification File
If you choose this option, you will be taken to the HTML authentication page.
- Select “Download” to download the file.
- Upload the file to the root directory of your site.
- Select “Ready to Authenticate” in the Yahoo Site Explorer.
You will receive a successful notification if the process is complete.
Adding a Meta Tag
If you choose this option, you will be taken to the Meta Tag authentication page.
- Copy the meta tag code and place in the <head> section of your home page.
- Select “Ready to Authenticate” in the Yahoo Site Explorer.
You will receive a successful notification if the process is complete.
