How to Submit a Sitemap to Google
Ready to be Indexed by Google?
Once you have your sitemap completed, now it is time to submit it to Google. Don't have a sitemap, learn how to create a sitemap. If you have a Google Webmaster account, you can follow these simple steps to submit your sitemap.
Submit Your Sitemap
- Login into your Google Webmaster account. Don't have an account? Create a Google Webmaster Account.
- Select the site you wish to add sitemap. If you do not have a site, add a site to Google Webmaster Tools.
- Select "Sitemaps"
- You will see the URL of your site. Example: http://www.yoursite.com/
- In the text box, enter the location and name of your sitemap. Note: It is recommended that you put your sitemap in your root directory. Example: http://www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml.
- Select "Submit Sitemap".
After you have submitted your site, you should get a confirmation that it has been received. It could take up to a few weeks for Google to index your website. There is also no guarantee that your site will be indexed even if you submit a sitemap.
